Don Rickles Lists Malibu Beach House For US$8M

SLIDESHOW: Don Rickles’ 3,500-square-foot ocean-front home of 10 years is surrounded by an acre of landscaped grounds.

Don Rickles, the voice of Toy Story’s Mr Potato Head, has listed his home overlooking Malibu’s Little Dume Beach for US$7.9 million, which encompasses the deeded rights to the private beach.

Even at 90 years of age, Don Rickles doesn’t seem to be slowing down. The king of insult comics still appears on late-night television talk shows; is reprising his beloved role as the voice of Mr Potato Head in Toy Story 4; and continues his tours around the US with gigs and performances such as ‘A Don Rickles & Regis Philbin Laughfest: Stories, Film Clips and Fun’.

However, there is one thing he no longer has time for due to his active schedule: his beach house in the celebrity-studded enclave of Point Dume in Malibu, California. The four-bedroom property hit the market early last month, with an asking price of nearly US$8 million.

In addition to the quaint two-storey house built in 1968, the price includes a deed for the adjacent beach, which can only be accessed with a homeowner’s key.

Rickles’ 3,500-square-foot home of 10 years is surrounded by an acre of landscaped grounds. According to the listing, the estate includes a long driveway, a lighted tennis court and resort-style swimming pool and spa. Inside, wide-plank hardwood floors are found throughout with large windows and skylights that stream in sunlight across rooms.

The main-level formal living room has a fireplace, high ceilings and access to an ocean view deck with BBQ island — perfect for outdoor dining and entertaining. There is also a formal dining room that flows into a kitchen, featuring top-of-the-line appliances.

The lower level houses the owner’s suite with two separate spa-like bathrooms and dressing closets. In addition to the view of the ocean and Little Dume Beach, the residence also boasts views of the canyon.

Chris Cortazzo of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage holds the listing. Cortazzo told The Inquisitr that Rickles is indeed selling his Malibu beach house because he is “touring so much [and] working very hard”.
