The plush penthouse of former entertainment power-couple actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay leading-man Chris Martin is back on the market for US$9.9 million — nearly 30 percent off its original asking price set a year ago.
Just months before the couple’s split in mid-2016, the property was listed for US$14.25 million. That price was then chopped to US$12.85 million but when there were still no takers, they withdrew the property from the market late last year.
The third-time sale is now managed by residential real-estate firm Compass. If they were to sell the New York penthouse for its current asking price, Paltrow and Martin will still make an almost twofold profit from the price of US$5 million that they paid in 2007.
The almost 4,000-square-foot condo looks to be a good investment. Compass describes the residence as a “three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bathroom home that captures the balance of centuries-old techniques with a confident, breezy modernism”.
Designed by Roman and Williams, its interior is polished with an “ethereal” palette of whites, lavenders, greys and silvers. This is accentuated by hand-embroidered and hand-painted wall coverings. Other features include 11ft ceilings; oversized windows and skylights; a marble gas fireplace; a sofa swing and a white-on-white, dine-in kitchen. For those who prefer al fresco dining, there is the impressive 500-square-foot decked terrace.
The master suite has access to the home’s other western terrace. Equally spacious and equipped with en-suite bathrooms, the two additional bedrooms are adjoined by a pocket door and may be suitable for kids during daytime play.
Situated in the River Lofts, a two-building warehouse conversion set in New York’s Tribeca, the property comes with added set of amenities. Available on hand is a 24-hour doorman service, a newly renovated fitness centre and direct elevator access to the indoor garage.
