Debbie Reynolds’ Family Ranch Goes To Auction

SLIDESHOW: Debbie Reynolds’ ranch-estate in California.

The 44-acre property in Creston, California, was a place for family gatherings, especially with son Todd Fisher and daughter Carrie.

Debbie Reynolds’ California ranch is one of the lots that will be offered by Profiles in History, an auction house based in Los Angeles, during a sale of the late actress and her daughter Carrie Fisher’s personal properties in October 2017.

There will be more than 1,500 lots in the auction, with items for collectors but also memorabilia for fans who want to own something that belonged to the mother-and-daughter team. When Fisher died last December from a cardiac arrest at the age of 60, Reynolds passed away a day later due to complications from a stroke. She was 84 years old.

Before Reynolds’ death, the ranch-estate in California had already been put up for sale, with an asking price of close to US$5 million. With no takers, it was eventually taken off the market. It is now estimated to sell at auction for between US$4 million and US$8 million.

Although not her primary home, the Singin’ in the Rain star added more rooms — reported to be an entire wing for Carrie — to the property she bought in 1988. It is also known to be a place for family gatherings, especially during holidays and for Christmas celebrations.

The ranch’s main house is 7,800 square feet and includes six bedrooms. According to the listing, there’s a spacious living room with a fireplace; a wood-panelled library and gym; and a custom home theatre that sits 20 people.

There are a number of outbuildings around the 44 acres: a 10,000-square-foot barn; a 6,000-square-foot film and television production facility; an art studio; a guesthouse; and a caretaker’s cottage.

Irrigated pastures, four wells, a spring-fed pond and abundant wildlife can also be found on the grounds.

A portion of the proceeds from the auction will go to charity. Reynolds’ charity, the Thalians, and the Jed Foundation, chosen by her granddaughter Billie Lourd, will both benefit.
