The 10m tunnel features luminous fixtures to evoke a night garden.
Dessert chef and 2am:dessertbar founder Janice Wong will be presenting a Sweets Tunnel at Level 1 of Orchard Central until 9 August, featuring edible art creations and gastronomical installations.
Spanning an area of 10 x 3m, the tunnel features a night vision of a garden with luminous fixtures that highlight Wong’s vision of marrying food with art.
Spectators can expect more than 2,000 pieces of glow-in-the-dark fondant flowers, chocolates, gummies, marshmallows and cake pops that encapsulate a whimsical vibe synonymous with Wong’s brand of dessert artistry.
Limited-edition sweet treats by Wong will also be available alongside the installation, such as the Singapore Special Chocolate Orchid Ball made from passion fruit marshmallow with raspberry crisps, nuts and caramel, as well as other UV glow-in-the-dark chocolates.
The installation is a collaboration with Orchard Central, a shopping mall along Orchard Road, and is a part of the mall’s food festival for 2015 entitled Sweet Surprises @ OC. The festival focuses on desserts and also features many sugary delicacies by other patisseries at the OC Dessert Walk Marketplace.
Edible art sessions will be held every Saturday on 1 and 8 August at 3pm and 6pm. To redeem a pair of admission tickets to the edible art session, shoppers must spend any amount at Orchard Road and proceed to the concierge counter with their receipts of purchase. The tasting session admits only 150 pairs of tickets per Saturday.
Wong, a two-time winner of Asia’s Best Pastry Chef in the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list, will hold a Live Art Sessions on 8 August at 4pm where she will execute a live demonstration of her edible art creations for an audience.
Wong’s Sweets Tunnel is open daily from 11am to 10pm and will run till 9 August 2015.
